-DONATION PLS DAY 2-
The very last St John flag sale I did was last Sunday 25th March 2007 together with my classmate Zhuang Tak. Andy was suppose to join us but unfortunately his dad took the car away and so he had no mode of transportation, and Mei Fang’s mum didn’t allow her to go out. But Zhuang Tak and I went on ahead with the flag sale, and I really didn’t have the heart to cancel it because this is our last chance to do the flag sale as we had to submit in our tins on this coming Saturday, and this is Zhuang Tak’s very first and last time doing this. We went to Sarawak Plaza, between Coffee Bean and KFC. As Michael would put it, we “extorted” money from passerbyers that were coming in and out of the plaza.
Extortion at Sarawak Plaza

For some reason, this location is considered as “unstrategic” by the old members. I however, find this place to be quite a good place to “extort” money. We had great response from the members of the public, even the tourist donated some money to us. We are actually not allowed to ask them to donate because they are here to play and have fun. But these people have the heart of gold. A few Australians, a guy from Switzerland and another from Holland and some others generously donated some money. Even a couple of Nigerians who were studying in INTI College put in some money into my tin. Ain’t that sweet? There were also two very very generous people who put in a nice RM10 into my tin!

Zhuang Tak, my partner in crime......

So there was just the two of us standing outside the plaza. We did however, run into a group of St John members from our school. But they didn’t stay to help as they went off to other places like Riverside and Parkson Grand. Zhuang Tak and I were invited along, but I felt that the place where we were standing was much better than the places they were heading to. Call me crazy for thinking so, but I have 5 empty sheets of paper which once had 60 stickers each to prove it to you!
I had an “interesting” encounter with a couple donors who were, erm, “pondans”… haha… they were so funny, I tried my very best NOT to laugh at them! I know its kinda mean, but what can I do? Very farny bah… What was so strange about them was that they dressed like ladies, sound like ladies, but unlike the other typical “pondans”, they were totally flat chested. Haha… Oh dear, I wonder how people nowadays can walk around town like that…
Anyways, we were having fun “extorting” money from others on our own, that is, until a group of “kepoh” St John members from SMK Batu Lintang came to our turf and tried to steal our customers away. I was so annoyed because Zhuang Tak and I were there first and we had first dibs on the place. But anyway, we just carried on “extorting” money from people. We were so very lucky because we got more donors compared to them. I suppose they were turned off by the silly pouting look the Batu Lintang girl had on her face as she tried to “extort” money from others. HAHA… And another thing is, we were standing near the door (but we kept a safe distance to avoid being kicked away from the security guards) while they stood near the stairs. It was a stroke of luck as that time, there were more people going out of the plaza than going in!!! Brilliant, brilliant… lolz…
They left after a while and Zhuang Tak and I stood victorious!!! I was so happy and glad that we stood our ground and didn’t budge from the spot. I was “nice” to them because I knew one of them, Anthony, whom I used to play tennis with. Zhuang Tak and I carried on happily “extorting” money from the people UNTIL our turf was intruded by another group by Batu Lintang members. This time, no mercy from me. I keep giving them the black eye… haha… They stood by the doorside and I was hoping that the security guard would throw them out. But unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Since the “kepoh” Batu Lintang people were standing by the door, Zhuang Tak and I took on the people who were entering the plaza. I was so annoyed I wanted to throw my heavy tin at them! Haha.. jk… But for some odd reason, it just so happens that there were more people going into the plaza than out! And most of the people who came out of the plaza had donated to me earlier on. They tried to get clever and moved closer to the front but I outsmarted them! Lolz… Just like the first group, they left and Zhuang Tak and I were once again free to “extort” money from everyone… I guess it just goes to show that you get nothing when you try to steal from me!!! Haha… Apparently, Ning Jian and the gang encountered the same problem when they were at Saberkas the day before. They had a clash with kids from SMK Sg. Maong and SMK Green Road or Kuching High.
Sometime later, our St John President, Sin Chern, ran into us with her brother.

Sin Chern and Zhuang Tak

I had to leave at 4 something because my mum wanted to wash the car or something like that. By that time, my tin was so full that people were having problems stuffing RM1 notes and coins into my tin! Wow… lolz… When I reached home I did a little calculation and I estimated that there were more than 200 people I “extorted”. Not bad, considering we were standing outside the plaza from 12pm till 4pm… I had fun anyway. Given the chance, heck, I just might do it again… lolz…
Chaos
God bless
